Spectral Stalkers is a single-player roleplaying gamebook written by Peter Darvill-Evans, illustrated by Tony Hough and originally published in 1991 by Puffin Books. It forms part of Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone's Fighting Fantasy series. It is the 45th in the series in the original Puffin series (ISBN 0-14-034366-0). There are currently no announced plans to republish this book as part of the modern Wizard series.
[edit] Story

The Aleph is a prize beyond all measure, a mysterious globe from another dimension which can be used to harness all the forces of the Universe - and it has been entrusted to YOU for safekeeping. YOU must use its unearthly powers to transport you through the many Spheres of the Multiverse and return it to its rightful owner. But beware - the nightmarish Spectral Stalkers also want the Aleph, and they are on your trail!

After attending a carnival in Khul, the player encounters a strange dying creature who entrusts him with the Aleph, an artefact which allows journeying beyond the limits of space and time. The ultimate goal is the Ziggurat World, where a magician eagerly awaits the Aleph. But dreaded extradimensional creatures, the titular Spectral Stalkers, track the bearer into the various worlds in which he has to travel, but in each of them the player may find items and artefacts, as well as information, which will help him overthrow the mage's scheme to come into the Aleph's possession.

The book begins on the usual Fighting Fantasy setting of Titan, but actually involves the player travelling to a variety of different settings. These settings include other fantasy worlds and even futuristic science-fiction locations. A cameo appearance is made by the famous robot character Robby the Robot, modified to fit the role of a species-capturing/restraining robot.
